Measure your team’s software delivery performance

The DORA Quick Check is a fast and easy way to assess your team’s current software delivery performance. We’ve recently made some changes to the Quick Check which introduce a new metric, deployment rework rate, add our latest industry benchmarks, and provide throughput and stability scores.

Your report includes:

Your quick check results include an overall software delivery performance score, on a scale from 0 to 10. This blended metric is derived from the five individual metrics, which are also presented individually. All scores are normalized to a 10-point scale for convenience. You can compare your results to benchmarks derived from DORA’s 2025 research program.

  • Overall performance score: A primary score (out of 10) that blends your performance across five different areas.
  • Five individual metrics: A detailed look at the five specific metrics that make up your overall score.
  • Throughput & stability scores: Two additional overall scores that specifically highlight how fast you deliver software (throughput) and how reliable those deliveries are (stability).
  • Industry benchmarks: The Quick Check allows you to compare your scores to industry benchmarks from the 2025 DORA research.

Key takeaway: Your report takes complex delivery data, converts it into a simple 10-point scoring system, and lets you see how you compare to the rest of the industry.

The DORA Quick Check can be a great conversation starter as you and your team work to improve. Start by picking one application or service that you’d like to measure. Next, gather the cross-functional team responsible for this application. Have a conversation about each of the questions in the Quick Check.

  • Does the team agree on the answers? If not, have a conversation about why.
  • Are you surprised by the results? If so, how are they different from what you expected?

What’s holding you back?

DORA’s research has identified several capabilities which drive higher software delivery and organizational performance. Improving these capabilities can help your team deliver more value to your customers and organization. It’s important to focus your efforts on the specific things that are currently holding you back. While every team will take a different journey, we have identified three capabilities that are often beneficial to improve: continuous integration, loosely coupled teams, and generative organizational culture.

Use the Quick Check to complete a brief survey for each of these three capabilities to determine how you perform and which to consider focusing on first.
